Location Uganda is one of my favourite countries in the world. Within short distances the habitats change from lush green forests to open savannah where elephants roam and lions sleep in trees; from fertile lake districts to swamps where the elusive Shoebill lives. Mountain gorillas might be the main attraction but the diversity of other wildlife is simply immense.
Likely Subjects Mountain gorilla, chimpanzee & golden monkey permits are included in this trip and offer near definite chances to track these primates in their natural habitat. Other likely wildlife includes in no particular order : Lions, elephants, hippos, black and white Colobus monkeys, red Colobus monkeys, shoebills, hornbills, sunbirds, kingfishers, buffalo, impala, baboons and an immense wealth of other bird life.
Cost Includes 12 nights accommodation in a selection of hotels, guesthouses & tented safari camps; permits to track mountain gorillas, chimpanzees & golden monkeys; all other national park entrance fees; all transport in our comfortable 4 * 4 vehicles.
Cost Excludes International flights to and from Entebbe, visa on arrival ($50 USD) and the occasional meal out where we don't have full board accommodation (4 nights).
Group Size Just 6 people plus Jo and Ian. We use 2 cars so everyone has a window seat at all times. This also means our gorilla, chimpanzee and golden monkey encounters are guaranteed to be exclusive to our group.
Accommodation A range of comfortable hotels and on suite safari style tents.
Climate Perfect ! January is a fantastic time of year to visit Uganda. Temperatures largely depend on altitude ranging from about 30 on the savannahs to 20 in the mountains.
Equipment Anything you're happy with. We'll encounter plenty of wildlife very close so you'll get photos that you're proud of with basic cameras.
