The Badger Cull
Winner British wildlife photography awards documentary prize. Press release and more info is here.
These six images entitled the badger cull tell the story of one of England’s biggest ever wildlife crimes funded by the British taxpayer to the tune of over £60 million.
Nearly 1/4 million badgers have been shot in the cull and hardly any were even tested to see if they had bovine TB.
Badgers have been blamed for a crime they didn’t commit and wiped out in several parts of England.
This has also been a disaster for English dairy farmers with over 20,000 cattle destroyed each year again at taxpayers expense.
Wales has never culled badgers and reduced rates of bovine TB by 40% through better testing of cattle, increased farm hygiene and more control over cattle movement.
