Limited edition great ape prints for sale

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness

This is a postive idea for uncertain times. For more than a decade I’ve been raising funds for great ape conservation projects. Why? Well I like a great ape; but I love a forest. By default if we can ensure a future for these keystone species we protect large amounts of tropical forest along with a massive array of biodiversity. Surely the key lesson from Covid 19 is that protecting habitat and nature is key to the long term survival and aspirations of humans. So I’m delighted to announce a new range of limited edition fine art great ape prints as part of a fund raising project in partnership with The Jane Goodall Institute UK, Orangutan Foundation UK and Gorilla Doctors.  On the subject of hope, Jane Goodall has signed the 1st edition of a chimpanzee print entitled ‘hope’. Jane has a new Podcast … or rather a Hopecast of which there is more info here.  Sir David Attenborough has signed the 1st edition of a baby mountain gorilla print and Ashley Leiman OBE the 1st edition of an orangutan which are to be sold by an online charity auction.

Each of the thirteen images below are also available as limited edition prints signed by little old me. An exhibition will take place at The Lucy Bell Gallery, St Leonard’s-on Sea, East Sussex from 17th Oct until 14th November and prints can be purchased directly from the gallery or online. Each print below is available in three sizes: small: 48cm by 35cm; medium: 60cm by 50cm and large: 86cm by 60cm.  A special edition of small prints is available during the exhibition for £95 limited to an edition of 100, medium prints are £295 edition 50 and large prints are £395 also edition 50.

I love being in a storm in the rain forest and this was taken after a downpour of biblical proportions. Crouching under a tarpaulin to keep my camera gear dry, I waited for the deluge to end and was rewarded with such a close encounter with this curious baby orangutan.

Genetic analysis suggests that humans and chimps diverged four to eight million years ago and that at least 98 percent of the human and chimpanzee DNA is identical. Here I was trying to capture the sense of intelligence that these great apes have. Taken in Gombe National Park, Tanzania.
