Surfing Pelicans

“There are a million ways to surf, and as long as you’re smiling you’re doing it right.”

Along the Pacific coast of Northwest Nicaragua lies an area of mangrove swamps near the small village of Padre Ramos where I’ve been exploring recently. It’s the largest area of mangroves in the whole of Central America and has got to be one of the most beautiful places to kayak around. As an added bonus, every morning I wake up early to watch the surfing Pelicans. Flying low over the ocean, they play just above the waves giving the impression that they are surfing. I do so love nature. Here’s a few photos of these wonderful birds. I don’t think I’ve ever posted a photo of where I’m staying before but I couldn’t resist below- the perfect beach front tree house and the best office I’ve ever had for just $10 per night !
