Orangutan photography tour trip report

We’ve just finished this year’s October Borneo orangutan photography tour so while I have a decent internet connection I’ll add a a few photos below. Massive thanks to Bob, Christine, Andy, Jill, Eric, Vicky, Pam and Scott for being such lovely participants this year. Between us we raised another chunk of money for The Orangutan Foundation UK, whose work is helping to ensure a long term future for these forests. Close encounters with orangutans are the main draw of these trips so I’ll start with a few shots of them from our week.

And then a few other shots from this Borneo trip …

Trying to capture the reflection of the rainforest in a water drop after a refreshing shower …

Our group at the tree planting project where they all planted a tree to add to the 100,000 that the incredible Mr Ledan has now planted here.

We had great sightings of Proboscis monkeys on this trip …

Including this male which might be a tad over excited about his leap of faith ? There’s some more Proboscis monkey photos taken on previous trips here too.

Pit Viper snake Borneo

You always need an element of luck to see snakes as usually they hear and sense you long before you are close. But this Pit Viper was very obliging, staying in the same place for three days enabling us to photograph it at close quarters.

Sunset Borneo river

Sunsets are often beautiful here at the end of the day on the rivers …

Bird life was slightly challenging on this trip as most sightings were quite far away …

Apart from the ever faithfull Stork Billed Kingfisher …

 And Brahminy kite.

Ok onwards and upwards now as I head to Sulawesi for a week before returning to Borneo for my next group.
