Refugio de Vida Silvestre Los Guatuzos

Refugio de Vida Silvestre Los Guatuzos is the largest area of wetlands in Nicaragua and is home to a mind boggling array of wildlife. Great sightings of Howler, Spider and Capuchin monkeys are common here along with both two and three toed sloths. And as for birds, reptiles and amphibians – they are quite simply off the scale. The starting point to reach this wildlife haven is San Carlos where there are daily boats to the small settlement of Papaturro in the reserve. Ask around for Armondo Gomez who will take you by boat and on foot in search of animals  – his knowledge and passion for wildlife is incredible. Internet is very limited at the mo but here’s a few wildlife photos from this gorgeous region.
