Bouncing around in the Celebes sea off the east coast of Borneo last night, the sky spilled over with stars. A thin crescent moon rose like a blade of light, and the Milky Way curved across the heavens – a luminous bridge to nowhere. And I remember thinking, absurdly, perhaps, have I died and gone to heaven. Shortly after sunrise I found one of the largest whale sharks I’ve seen in my entire life. Love love love the ocean.
